I taught school up in the 4 corners area of Arizona and would drive through the Painted Desert routinely.
It's magnificent!
These are beautiful, as always. The first one reflects quite a stream of water (or lava?), and the others are just plain lovely! That's a neat spring, too, with the little waterfall...
Thank you, Janet. #1 is formed by water runoff. None of these pictures were taken in the "official" Painted Desert as I understand it. But to me, there is color enough to call it so. As you can see, there is very little color at Roger's Spring but as far as I am concerned the color there is Green and that makes it part of the Painted Desert.
Hi Charlie, Nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping by. I can only dream about living in the area of the Western Deserts. I would be on the road often to try to capture the landscape under varying light conditions. I loved it there...
One such a place in hundreds of miles. Not much chance of getting into trouble near the spring but it sure makes for a great swimming hole in the heat of the day...
Finding good water in the desert really is 'magic'. It was such a nice surprise when I was scrolling down and found the springs! Love it. Peace

Lovely. I didn't know there was a spring there.

Thank you, Mary Sue. I am glad the water surprised you. It was flowing just as strong as it was before when I visited the spring 2 years ago.
