Return to the Painted Desert: PART III
The colors in this part of the world never seizes to amaze me which is why I am posting so many of the photos I took. 1/.

One may ask what the source of the dark stones was...
3/.
...because they are completely out of place but if one turns around the culprit is not far away...

Stunning. You need to make a book with all your images.

Thank you, Denise. Yes it is all you said and more. It is big, very big. Normally I like to work with warm light (early or late) but here that brings false color to the scene. Not false as in fake but as in opposite of true. I wanted to capture the true colors of the area in daylight. Well, I hope you and Nik have years on your hands because you will need it to explore every wash and hill.
@MaartenVenter - years on my hands ... ha ... soon as i win that lottery!!! guess i'll have to have supplies airdropped! ha!

Thank you, Laureen. I have made a book on the western deserts, called The Painted Desert. I only needed one copy because I had it printed as a gift for my mom. It is still out there for sale with Blurb but it is very expensive. It is large and I chose expensive paper. Thank you for the rec.

There is a woman who lives near Yosemite who is a photographer. She treks into the mountains with a mule taking pictures and then her husband will meet with her after a week bringing supplies and then... Her photos are absolutely amazing. Real photos - film photos, hand printed in a darkroom. I forgot her name now...
@MaartenVenter - oh wow ... a true darkroom diehard ... i learned a little darkroom in a college class but that's been eons ... what an adventure that would be!!! i'll stick with digital (ha), laptop, and photoshop! *~)
@MaartenVenter - that is an incredible photography book!!!
@windupherskirt -
I had a darkroom some years ago and I miss the smell of chemicals and seeing the images appear. But Photoshop is very convenient and I am not complaining...
@MaartenVenter - yeah, seeing the images come to life is quite a thrill ... no complaints here!!!
@windupherskirt -
Thank you, Denise. You are a very kind person.
@MaartenVenter - and honest too *~) ... you select these great wonders of nature to enjoy & explore and share them through your exquisite fotografs!!
@windupherskirt -
Although I use Photoshop I still try to make my images in the camera.
@windupherskirt -
Mostly I just show you places I've been to.
@MaartenVenter - me too ... i'm getting better at making those images in the camera and relying less on editing ... one day i'll be a photographer! *~) ... i'd love to go to that painted desert, utah, arizona ... one day ...

Keep the following in mind: Flying to Las Vegas is cheaper than surrounding destinations. From there you can explore Lake Meade State Park (where these photos were taken) and drive to St George in two days. From there to Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and back to LV in a week, or two. Check out the flight prices - you'll be surprised.
@MaartenVenter - okay ... great ... fangs for the scoop!!
so the wind is slowly tearing down the mountain little by little
