We watched the last launch of the shuttle Atlantis from a park in Titusville, FL. We were about 12 miles away from the launch pad but the experience was awesome.

Ooh, how wonderful, Maarten -- I always wanted to see a launch, but never was able to be there. Could you feel it from 12 miles away?
I would love to watch a launch sometime!
Man you get around! There are only a couple more launches left, isn't there? Thanks for sharing the experience. I may try to get down there for the last. Great pictures Maarten!
Thank you, John. I have to because I never know when I return to Australia. I live like a pauper so I can see the good stuff while I am here and I love it. NASA's achievement is more than I can put in words. I loved every second of it.
Thank you, Janet. Although the sound was not overwhelming at that distance but the rumble was very deep. I think I could feel it but the excitement of taking photos and the crowd cheer afterwards left me in doubt as whether I felt it.

Not many left. You would have to make arrangements soon.
