  • Big Sur: PART VI

For these photos I used a 70-300mm telephoto lens. This allowed me to avoid the foreground where the haze has the least effect. The foreground in the picture is quite some distance away and a complete loss of foreground detail is the result.

  • Big Sur: PART I

Traveling south from Carmel I set out to find the little known falls called Mac Vey Falls. It is an afternoon light falls but in the two days I spent in the area I had no luck with Lady Sky. On both days the sun set in a stark white ball casting little warmth into the scene with no clouds to temper the sharp piercing photons. So the photos turned out pretty average but I can honestly say that I saw the Mac Vey Falls.

  • Monterey to Carmel by the Sea

The next morning I woke up and took a shot at the window. Then I got up and took a shot at the beach. We packed our bags and drove south only to find the quaintest city (I guess) called Carmel by the Sea. Gorgeous beaches, beautiful mountains and valleys but of course the ever present morning fog. No use getting up early in this neck of the woods. Anyway, this is not regarded as a negative. I love fog and the mood that goes along with it but not if you don't know where you are.

  • Monterey: PART II

I love the rocks at Monterey because one may just step a few yards away for a picture with a different feel to the previous one.

  • Monterey: PART I

I really doubt if any city on the west coast could appeal to me more than Monterey. We arrived late, had to find a place to stay, have dinner since we did not have lunch and the time for looking around turned out to be minimal but I managed to see enough to know that this could be the place for me.

  • San Francisco to Monterey Bay

This proved to be to long a trip for one day. Again I raced past the subject like I usually do. I had no quality time to spend in this huge area. Quality time - I've run out of it completely...
